Missing: Hannah Anderson, 16, Ethan Anderson, 8 Police wait 24 hours before issuing Amber Alert

A manhunt is on for two children missing in southern California. Their mother, Christina Anderson, has been murdered. Sheriff's deputies in San Diego say the kids could be with James Dimaggio, a "platonic" friend of the children's mother.
Deputies aren't sure where 16-year-old Hannah and 8-year-old Ethan Anderson are, but believe they are with Dimaggio. While putting out a fire at his home Saturday night, investigators found the body of 44-year-old Christina Anderson.  They also found a child and a dog dead.
Dimaggio could be in a blue Nissan Versa with California license plate number 6WCU986. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Detail at 858-974-2321 or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
Sheriff's deputies issued an Amber Alert Monday night, nearly two full days after the abduction. So why'd they wait so long? HLN Law Enforcement Analyst Mike Brooks and former medical examiner investigator Joseph Scott Morgan break down what goes into issuing an Amber Alert.
