- Usher Raymond V nearly drowned in swimming accident
- Men working at the home rushed out, saved 5-year-old
The 5-year-old son of R&B star Usher was rescued Monday from a terrifying swimming pool accident at his home and taken to an Atlanta area children's hospital.
Usher Raymond V was trapped underwater after becoming stuck in the pool's drain, according to police. Two women who were at the home tried but were unable to save the boy and ran inside shouting for help.
A pair of audio-video technicians who were at the home working on some sound equipment responded to the calls and just might have saved the young boy's life.
According to the police report, "Mr. Eugene Stachurski and Mr. Benjamin Crews ran to the pool with the attempts to pull the victim from the pool drain at which time Mr. Stachurski administered CPR to the victim. Mr. Eugene Stachurski was successful in reviving the victim."
Paramedics arrived afterward and took the child to the hospital. He was "conscious, alert and breathing" at the time.
Police say the boy was kept at the hospital overnight for observation.
The near-tragedy comes one year after Kile Glover, the 11-year-old son of Usher's ex-wife, died from injuries sustained when he was struck by a jet ski while tubing in North Georgia's Lake Lanier.
